Tristaniopsis laurina, the water gum, is an evergreen Australian tree reaching twenty-three to thirty-nine feet in cultivation, with smooth bark that exfoliates in purplish tones to reveal a mottled cream under-bark. The small, sweetly perfumed yellow flowers are arranged in short clusters, appearing from late spring through summer.
'Luscious' is a dense, upright cultivar with dark green leaves nearly double the size of the wild species. New foliage emerges in a copper-to-reddish tone, providing a distinct color contrast against the mature growth.
