Why Sow

Something you can recommend without hedging

You are putting your own name behind this. Here is what makes Sow defensible to an audience that trusts you.

It is a real plant list, not a pretty picture

Most apps that redesign a garden from a photo invent the foliage — it has no name, no hardiness zone and nothing you can buy. Sow composes every design from more than 12,000 actual species and cultivars that nurseries stock, matched to the grower’s zone. Your audience can go and plant what they see, which means you are not recommending something that disappoints them a week later.

The Editor is the part people get hooked on

The drag-and-drop editor is one of the most used features in Sow, and it goes well past plants. More than 250 outdoor objects and materials come with it — furniture and seating, fire pits and outdoor kitchens, water features, lighting, pergolas, fences, pools — plus swatches for brick, stone, pavers, gravel, mulch and lawn. Objects rotate and snap into place, furniture is drawn from every side so it faces the right way, and a finished design can be upscaled for a clean before-and-after. It demonstrates well on camera, which matters if you make video.

One app instead of five

Sow covers discovering an idea, turning it into a plan, and keeping the result alive: design from a photo, the editor, a 12,000-plant library, plant identification, photo-based diagnosis, an AR sunlight meter, property maps, a garden journal and care reminders. There is a lot to make content about, and it holds attention past the first render.

Free to try, so the click is easy

Sow is free to download and free to start designing, and Sow Pro carries a seven-day free trial. Your audience can see it work on their own yard before paying anything, which is a much shorter ask than sending them at a paywall.

Attribution that survives the App Store

Referrals are tracked with deferred matching, so you are credited even when someone taps your link, goes to the App Store, and installs later rather than immediately. That is where most app affiliate programs quietly lose conversions.

It converts homeowners and professionals

The same link works for a weekend gardener redoing a front bed and for a landscape designer who needs client-ready presentations, proposals and sign-off. Those professionals subscribe to Sow Pro+ at $99.99 a year rather than $59.99, which is $20.00 to you instead of $12.00 — so a smaller, more professional audience can be worth as much as a large general one.

Content that writes itself

What you would be showing

These are the moments that hold an audience — a bench dropped into a bed and turned to face the right way, a plant diagnosed from a photo, a spot in the yard measured for real hours of sun. Screenshots and other assets are yours to use in the press kit.

How it works

Three steps to your first commission

01

Apply

Email a short introduction — who you are, who your audience is, and how you would share Sow. No forms, no waiting on an agency. Applications are usually answered within a couple of days.

02

Get your link

Approved partners get a unique referral link and their own dashboard, where every click, conversion and dollar earned is visible. The link works for iPhone, Android and the web app.

03

Share and earn

Use it wherever you publish — a yard redesign in the editor, a before-and-after, a plant ID, a walkthrough of your own garden. When someone subscribes through your link, you earn commission on what they pay, tracked automatically and paid monthly.

What you earn

Commission and terms

Written out in full, with the actual dollar figures rather than only a percentage.

20%Annual plans

A one-time commission on the first annual charge. Sow Pro is $59.99 a year, so a referred Pro subscriber earns you $12.00; Sow Pro+ is $99.99 a year, which earns you $20.00.

20%Monthly plans

Paid for up to three months per referred customer, then commission on that customer ends.

Attribution window
14 days. If someone taps your link and subscribes within 14 days, the sale is credited to you — including when they install from the App Store later rather than straight away.
When commission is earned
On a real charge. A free trial on its own does not generate commission, because no money has changed hands yet; it pays when that trial converts to a paid subscription.
Payouts
Calculated monthly and paid within 30 days by Stripe, in USD, once your balance reaches $50. Anything below the threshold rolls over to the next month.
Cost to join
None, and you do not need to be a Sow subscriber to be an affiliate — though it helps to have used it.

Full affiliate terms are sent with your approval email and apply alongside the Sow Terms of Service. These are the partner program for creators and businesses — if you are a Sow user wanting to invite friends, that is the referral program instead.

Who it suits

Partners we are looking for

The program works best where the audience is already thinking about their outdoor space. If that is yours, you will do well here.

  • Gardeners who already use Sow and get asked what they used
  • Garden, plant and houseplant bloggers
  • Landscape and garden designers with a following
  • YouTube, TikTok and Instagram creators covering gardens, yards or curb appeal
  • Newsletter writers on gardening, homesteading, or home and yard projects
  • Podcast hosts in gardening, home improvement or sustainable living
  • Independent nurseries and garden centers advising customers on what to plant
  • Master Gardener groups, plant societies and community garden organizers
  • Home renovation and real-estate creators whose audience is fixing up outside

Questions

Before you apply

How much can I earn?

You earn 20% of what a referred customer pays. On annual plans that is a one-time $12.00 for Sow Pro or $20.00 for Sow Pro+. On monthly plans it is 20% for up to three months per customer. There is no cap on how many people you refer.

When and how do I get paid?

Commissions are calculated monthly and paid within 30 days by Stripe, in USD, once your balance reaches $50. If you are under $50 in a given month the balance carries forward rather than being lost.

Does a free trial earn commission?

Not on its own. Sow Pro includes a seven-day free trial, and no commission is generated while a customer is still in it, because nothing has been charged. When the trial converts to a paid subscription, the commission is earned then.

How are referrals tracked?

Through your unique referral link. Tracking uses deferred matching, so you are credited even when someone taps your link, is sent to the App Store or Google Play, and installs some time afterwards — not only when they install immediately. The attribution window is 14 days.

Does it work on Android and the web as well as iPhone?

Yes. The same link routes to the App Store, Google Play or the web app at usesow.com depending on the device it is opened on.

Where am I allowed to promote Sow?

Social media, your blog or website, newsletters, podcasts, YouTube and other content platforms are all fine. Please disclose the affiliate relationship wherever you share the link, as the FTC and most platforms require.

What is not allowed?

Spam, misleading or invented claims about what Sow does, bidding on Sow-branded search terms, and posting links to coupon or deal-aggregation sites. Anything that would make a customer feel tricked into subscribing is out.

Do I need to be a Sow customer?

No, and there is no cost to join. That said, the partners who do best have used the app on their own garden and can talk about it specifically.

Can I see how I am performing?

Yes — approved partners get a dashboard showing clicks, conversions and earnings, so you can see which posts actually convert rather than guessing.
