1. What is Sow and who is it for?
Sow is an AI-assisted landscape design and plant-care companion. Whether you’re a homeowner planning a backyard makeover, a renter filling a patio with containers, or a professional looking for quick plant-palette concepts, Sow helps you visualize, organize, and track every plant in your outdoor space.
2. How do I start designing my landscape?
Tap “Plant Designer” on the dashboard, snap a photo or import an existing image, and use the drag-and-drop canvas to place AI-suggested plants. Sow scales each plant to your photo and lets you tweak spacing, color themes, and plant palette in real time.
3. Does Sow work for my USDA hardiness zone?
Yes. When you sign up, you can provide your ZIP code. Sow then locks in your zone so all plant recommendations are climate-appropriate by default. You can override the zone in profile settings if you garden in multiple regions.
4. How do I identify a plant with my camera?
From any project, tap the Plant ID option, point at the plant, and press shutter. Sow sends the photo to our recognition model and returns genus, species, and cultivar matches within seconds. Identified plants can be saved directly to your library and used in a design.
5. Why does Sow ask for camera permissions?
Camera access is required for live plant ID and for snapping photos of your space. We never store raw location data or photos on our servers unless you choose to save them to a project.
6. How do I save projects and sync across devices?
All projects save automatically to your Sow account. Sign in with the same email, Google, or Apple ID on another phone or tablet and your projects, plant library, and notes will appear after a quick sync.
7. How does Sow pick plant recommendations for me?
Sow combines zone hardiness, hours-of-sun, soil type, user-tagged style (e.g., naturalistic, Japanese, pollinator-friendly), and crowd-sourced performance ratings. A ranking algorithm scores each candidate, then generates the list of plant recommendations.
8. Is there a free version? What features require a subscription?
The core features—marketplace, personal plant library, and limited AI image generation—are free. Sow Pro includes 100 credits per month plus solar heat-map overlays, export-to-PDF planting plans, priority support and more. Sow Pro+ adds unlimited design generation, 120 credits per month, discounted AI videos, and client tools for professionals.
9. How do I delete my account or request my data?
Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. Your account will be deleted immediately.
