Boronia heterophylla, the red boronia, is an erect, slender evergreen shrub native to the damp flats and riverbanks of south-west Western Australia. The aromatic, dark green compound leaves release a sweet, slightly bitter rue-like scent when crushed.
The species produces waxy, bell-shaped flowers of brilliant magenta pink to deep red that hang singly or in small clusters from the leaf axils. Flowering occurs from spring to early summer, covering the dense, rounded branches in colour.
