Elaeocarpus is a genus of evergreen trees and shrubs characterized by their colorful foliage flushes and fringed flowers. Elaeocarpus eumundi is a dense, upright tree with a narrow-pyramidal form, growing to forty feet in cultivation with dark, scaly bark and a heavily branched structure down to the ground.

The glossy, dark green leaves emerge in striking flushes of copper, pink, or bronze-red before maturing. Creamy-white, cup-shaped flowers with petals split into fine linear lobes hang in pendulous racemes along the branches from spring to early summer.
