What you do

Get a free irrigation pre-assessment, then have a licensed contractor retrofit your existing in-ground irrigation (rain sensor, smart controller, drip, multi-stream nozzles, hydrozones, flow sensor, 70+ gal rain barrel, drought-tolerant plants replacing irrigated areas), then get a post-assessment and submit receipts.

Requirements

  • Complete free on-site pre-assessment by UF/IFAS Florida-Friendly Landscaping staff BEFORE any retrofit; earlier work does not qualify
  • Only retrofits on the eligible list are reimbursable
  • Post-retrofit assessment by staff required
  • Itemized invoices (parts and labor) with proof of payment (cancelled check, money order, in-store receipt or card statement)
  • Retrofits done and invoices submitted within 6 months of the post-assessment or Aug 31 of the program year, whichever is first
  • Applicant handles permitting and hires a licensed contractor
  • Missing scheduled appointments or not replying to staff gets the application dismissed
  • Applicant allows staff to release assessment reports to WASD and SFWMD
  • Drought-tolerant plants must be from the 'Low Maintenance Landscape Plants for South Florida' list
