What you do

Reduce your monthly stormwater fee by qualifying for a credit: keep a large lot mostly unpaved (low impact parcel), attend county watershed stewardship events such as invasive privet pulls and storm drain marking, attend watershed education workshops, mow and maintain a county detention pond in your subdivision, or keep your septic tank pumped.

Requirements

  • Low impact parcel: lot larger than 2 acres with total impervious area under 10% of the parcel (house, driveway, patio, pool deck, shed, gravel all count); must not add impervious area during the 5-year term
  • Stewardship: at least one household member attends county-run events (or pre-approved events via [email protected]) and gets a signed certificate of participation showing activity, date, hours, name and property address
  • Education: attend county-listed workshops, certificates with 5-10 hours
  • Adopt-A-Pond: detention pond must be on a platted parcel in your subdivision; submit a maintenance plan before starting; 5% for mowing, 5% for clearing the outlet control structure
  • Septic: receipt from licensed hauler submitted within 12 months of pumping, pumped at least every 5 years
  • Credits are voided if the county issues a stormwater or septic violation notice; county may inspect
  • If the account holder changes the new holder must reapply

  4. 4Submit to the Stormwater Management Division; incomplete packages are returned
  5. 5Wait for the approval or denial notice and the billing cycle the credit will first appear on
