What you do
Buy new (or factory reconditioned) electric or reel mowers, electric leaf blowers, string trimmers, or replacement batteries, and optionally trade in similar old gas or electric equipment at a Metro recycling center for a bigger rebate.
Requirements
- Equipment bought new or factory reconditioned within the last 12 months
- Proof of Metro Louisville/Jefferson County residency (photocopy of driver's license or state ID)
- Original purchase receipt (online vendor proof of purchase accepted)
- Trade-in bonus: old equipment must be similar to the new item (mower for mower, battery for battery), drained of gas and oil, and dropped at Metro Recycling Center 1 (595 Hubbards Lane), Center 2 (7219 Dixie Hwy, March-September) or Waste Reduction Center (636 Meriwether Ave, March-September); keep the original notarized green voucher
- Batteries that come bundled with a mower, trimmer or blower do not qualify for a separate battery rebate
- Recycling alone earns nothing; a rebate needs a new purchase
How to apply
- 1Option A (instant): buy from a participating dealer that removes the rebate from the price at checkout, showing proof of residency
- 2Option B (mail-in): buy eligible equipment and keep the receipt
- 3If trading in, take old gear to an approved recycling center first and get the notarized green voucher; check it is correct before leaving
- 4Complete the Rebate Request Form from the program page
- 5Mail it to Lawn Care for Cleaner Air Rebate Program, 701 West Ormsby Avenue, Suite 303, Louisville, KY 40203 with receipt, ID copy and voucher if any
