The Story

Plant Bio

Lysimachia congestiflora, dense-flowered loosestrife, is a low creeping perennial native to China, reaching four to six inches tall and spreading six to twelve. Ovate medium-green leaves are held opposite or in whorls along trailing stems, and clusters of cup-shaped yellow flowers about three-quarters of an inch across open at the stem tips from May to July.

It is semi-evergreen to evergreen where winters are mild, holding foliage when most groundcovers have died back. The trailing habit suits hanging baskets and wall tops as much as ground level, and the golden-leaved forms hold their colour better in part shade than in full sun, which scorches them.
